Notice to all Importers of Pesticides into the Cook Islands

Kia Orana,

As mandated by the Pesticides Act 1987, the Pesticides Board, will start registration of all pesticides imported into the Cook Islands by both commercial and non-commercial entities.  This process will take effect from 01 January 2021.

Any person who wishes to import a pesticide into the Cook Islands for the purposes of sale, supply or use, shall apply to the Pesticides Board for a permit to import the pesticide.

The Pesticides Act 1987 (10) specifically authorises that Pesticides are not to be imported unless registration is granted by the Pesticides Board.

It is therefore a regulatory requirement for any importer of pesticides to apply for importation under the Act, with a small fee and must comply with necessary conditions.

For further information, contact Mr William Wigmore, Registrar, Pesticides Board on phone 28711 or email [email protected].
